Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore // Jessie&Buzz
Jumping at the sound a little bit, Jessie’s heart began to race as she turned off the bathroom light and crossed her bedroom to get to the front door. She took a deep breath and yanked back the door, biting her lip when she saw Buzz standing there, looking just as nervous as she probably did. She sure felt that way, anyway.
She stood there looking at him for a moment, just letting her mind attempt to take in the fact that he was actually standing there, and that their confessions to each other only minutes ago had actually happened and weren’t some figment of her imagination. She bit her lip and reached out to him, taking his hand and lightly tugging him into the room. “Hi,” she whispered to him, then closed the door behind him, looking down at their joined hands. It felt so right, her hand in his, so comforting it made her smile.
Raising their hands up, she pressed them flat against one another, and she let a small smile cross her face as she saw how small her hand was compared to his. Jessie felt that she’d held his hand so many times before, in another life.
“Well, I just wanted to say… you’re a bright young woman with a beautiful yarnful of hair. A hairful of yarn. It’s, uh… Whoo… Uh… I must go.”
“Well, aren’t you the sweetest space toy I ever met?”
She shook her head, looking up from their hands and into Buzz’s blue eyes. She furrowed her eyebrows, wondering what in the world that was. Especially the “space toy” thing. “Thanks for coming over, by the way,” she said softly, lacing their fingers together and leaning against his chest. Her head fit perfectly into the nook beneath his chin, like two pieces of a puzzle, meant to go together. “I mean, I know it was out of no where…”
As the door was yanked open Buzz’s nervous expression gave way to a small smile, an smile that only grew as Jessie took his hand and pulled him into the room. Every time they touched there was this… feeling he got. No, not that kind of feeling. I mean, yeah, he got that kind of feeling to… uh… never mind! But it was like a memory, a good one, the kind that gave you the warm fuzzies every time you thought of it. With her small, warm hand in his, Buzz couldn’t help but smile and love her even more.
“Hello,” he whispered back, stepping into her room.
He kept his blue eyes trained on her bright green, feeling as if every second together was precious. Deep, very deep, in the back of his mind there was this feeling that they had been together before, but buried even further back was the awful memory that they had been separated at one point. While it was just a subconscious feeling, and Buzz wouldn’t ever let that happen, he still couldn’t help but drink in the sight of Jessie like a man dying of thirst.
As she furrowed her eyebrows, Buzz felt his own expression mimicking hers. ”What’s wrong?” he asked, voice concerned as their fingers interlaced. Maybe he’d freaked her out by staring so hard? Crap. That wasn’t his intention at all. God, why was he so awk—
And then she was leaning against him, her head resting on his collarbone as she spoke.
“Thanks for coming over, by the way. I mean, I know it was out of no where…”
He wrapped his arms around her upper torso, one hand stroking Jessie’s back as her ran his fingers through her fiery red hair with the other. This, right here, right now, was what he had been waiting for. And damn did it feel good.
“It’s fine,” he said, smiling as he kissed the top of her head. ”I wanted to come over. Are you alright?” he asked, backing away a little and placing his hand under Jessie’s chin, turning her face up to his as he looked down. ”I know this isn’t easy, but I want you to be happy.” He smiled lightly before pressing his lips to Jessie’s, the sudden contact making him take a deep breath as—
“Buzz! We’re your friends!”
“Spare me your lies, temptress! Your emperor’s defeated, and I’m immune to your bewitching good looks!”
Blue eyes flew open as Buzz suddenly broke the kiss, biting his lower lip as his eyebrows creased in confusion. What the hell was that? He was still looking at Jessie, and yet… seriously? What was that?
“Uhm… how about we sit down? I just got a little dizzy,” he said, walking over to her bed and taking a seat. His stomach felt like it was floating, but not in the normal Oh my gosh I love Jessie so much she’s amazing way. This way was… odd. He didn’t like it. ”Sorry. That was weird…”
