In the Garden of Good and Eva // Buzz & Eve

evenoteva:

Eve was busy trimming a shrub when she heard the heavy footsteps of Buzz enter her greenhouse. She was so engrossed in the work, Eve almost forgot he was coming. The past week had been nothing but Hell for Eve. One disaster after another fell on top of her like anvil, crushing her spirits, sanity, and heart in one fatal blow. But this was not the time to think about that, no. Sulking could wait till after her friend, one of the few people she could call a friend on this island, left.

Taking a step back from her shrub, Eve gave it one last look of approval before stepping out to meet Buzz. Her white long sleeve shirt shirt glistened in the sunlight, not a single spec of dirt nor sweat could be found on her white attire. Tossing her dark hair over her shoulder, Eve turned to face Buzz, smiling brightly as she did so.

“Well hi there Buzz! Glad to see you didn’t get lost after all.” She said with a laugh and propped herself up against a table. Truth be told she was happy that Buzz came over and really enjoyed his company! Though there was the smallest hint of awkwardness in the air. They had a few things to discuss alright, but that could wait for later. Because right now, Eve’s attention was directed at the cake he held in his hands. Chocolate, her only weakness. “Welcome to my Greenhouse Buzzie. What do you think? Pretty grand isnt it?”

“Hey Eve,” he greeted mellowly, eyes taking in her radiantly spotless appearance.  Dang.  How did she managed to do it?  One would think plodding around in dirt and foliage all day would make a gardener dirty — okay, one would know it would make a gardener dirty — and yet here was Eve, shining in all her glory as per usual.  Dang.  Buzz found himself jealous that he couldn’t remain so spotless while at work.  He was also subconsciously checking her out, but what can ya do?

“It is very grand,” he agreed, walking over towards Eve and taking a seat on top of the table she was leaning on.  ”I didn’t think it’d be so big, but it’s nice in here.  Very warm,” he noted, tugging at the edge of his t-shirt collar.  Buzz was not a  fan of the heat.

He handed her the paper bag, grinning as he did so.  ”Picked you up a little something I know you’re gonna like,” he teased, leaning back on the table and propping himself up on his arms.  His smile faltered a little bit, his eyes jolting downward for just a moment.  And then as quickly as it had happened, it passed, and he was looking up at Eve again, same jovial smile in place.

“So tell me more about your super exciting Valentine’s Day,” he said, sarcasm clearly dripping from his lips.  ”I hear it was out of this world.”  He laughed at his own pun then, because he is Buzz Lightyear, and that’s how he rolls.
