In the Garden of Good and Eva // Buzz & Eve
Buzz pulled up to the greenhouse in his old green beater of Jeep, the brakes squealing in protest as he threw the transmission into park and turned off the ignition. Hoping out, he grabbed the paper bag full of delicious to-go food from the Sunshine Diner and looked up at the large plastic structure in front of him. Wow. For some reason he hadn’t expected it to be this huge.
Eve had invited him over to the greenhouse for some impromptu hang out time, and he had gladly accepted. After spending most of last week — most notably, Valentine’s Day — alone, Buzz was quite happy for the excuse to have some company. Besides, there were a few things he wanted to speak to Eve about anyway, and now seemed like as good a time as any.
He walked up the gravel pathway to a small door set off in the side of the building, rapping lightly on the window before turning the handle and walking in. Stepping through, he instantly felt the temperature change as the heat and humidity of the island seemed to increase tenfold inside the structure. He scratched his chest through his t-shirt, glad he hadn’t worn anything heavier but slightly worried that he’d start sweating. Great. Oh well.
“Eve?” he called out, wandering down the first row of plants and taking in all the colors blooming around him. ”Wow… uh, Eve? You here?”
